PASCO COUNTY, FL–
A mother has been taken into custody after officials learned that she disciplined her children by burning their hands on a stove.
34-year-old Marta Caridad Castro-Rodriguez was arrested on Saturday at her home.
According to the report, Castro-Rodriguez turned on a glass stove burner and forced her 12 and 14-year-old children to place their right hands on the burner.
Castro-Rodriguez then called her father and eventually admitted that she injured the children.
When her father arrived, he treated the child’s burns and then tried to take them from the household.
Castro-Rodriguez, however, hit and shoved her father and prevented the children from leaving.
Authorities were eventually called and Castro-Rodriguez was taken into custody.
Officials say the children both suffered first-degree burns to their hands.
