Florida man wins $1 million prize from scratch-off ticket purchased at Winn-Dixie

(STARKE, FLA) — A man claimed a $1 million prize from a lottery scratch-off ticket he purchased from a Winn Dixie in Starke, FL, the Florida Lottery announced Monday.

Ryan Sodek, 51, secured the prize after playing the BILLION DOLLAR GOLD RUSH SUPREME Scratch-off game, and claimed the prize as a one-time total of $880,000.

Sodek purchased the scratch-off ticket from a Winn-Dixie located at 470 West Madison Street in Starke.

The Winn-Dixie location will also receive a $2,000 commission for distributing the winning ticket.

The Florida Lottery prides itself in reinvesting 99 percent of its revenue back into the state’s economy with transfers to education, prize payouts, and commissions to over 13,o00 Lottery retailers, according to the Florida Lottery website.
