A Port St. Lucie man is now behind bars after he allegedly asked a friend to kill a woman in Miami.
30-year-old Kellan West was arrested on September 11th after his friend showed police concerning text messages and voicemails West left on his phone about the alleged murder-for-hire plot.
According to the report, West contacted his friend several times asking him to kill a woman they both knew and told the friend that he would pay him for it.
West requested the murder look like an accident and for the friend to make sure it could not be traced back to him. West then went on to say that if the friend would not do it, he would do it himself.
The friend told police that at first he believed West was joking but when he realized that West really planned to have the woman killed, he contacted the police and then contacted the woman.
The friend said the woman was shocked to hear about the plan to have her killed but then informed him that West had been violent with her in the past.
When authorities made contact with West at his home, he told them that the woman had been harassing him and that he sent the text and voice messages to his friend because he was depressed.
West was arrested and charged with one count of solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
He remains at the Martin County Jail without bond.
