Hollywood, FL– A man is now in police custody after he reportedly killed his co-worker at
a Wärtsilä North America warehouse.
The incident occurred in the 2900 block of Southwest 42nd Avenue Wednesday around 6:45 a.m.
Broward Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the warehouse after a man claimed that he killed his co-worker in self-defense.
When authorities arrived at the warehouse, they found a man dead at the scene.
A suspect was taken into custody in the 200 block of Lock Road in Deerfield Beach.
The names of the suspect and the deceased have not been released at this time.
Authorities say the duo were co-workers and that they had a history.
“This was an isolated incident between two people that did know each other and worked together,” Hollywood Police spokesman Christian Lata said. “At this time the Hollywood Police Department does not believe that there’s any danger to public safety.”
Officials also would not say how the deceased was killed but they did stress that no guns were involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
More information is expected to be released Wednesday afternoon.
