A 75-year-old Martin County man has been arrested for the murder of a couple who lived in his same 55 and older community as him.
Hugh Hootman was taken into custody on Saturday for the murders of 81-year-old Ginger Wallace and 81-year-old Henry Wallace.
Authorities say they were called to the Cedar Pointe condominiums on East Ocean Boulevard around 3:00 p.m. after the two victims had been shot in the chest.
Authorities say that both victims were located just feet away from the entrance to their home and that Henry was found still clutching his keys.
Hootman has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder reported that Hootman lived in the condo above the couple and that the shooting appears to be related to an “ongoing dispute.”
One witness told reporters that it may have had something to do with HOA issues.
