Authorities in central Florida are reporting that a 29-year-old man who was recently released from prison is heading back to prison after he gunned down his younger brother.
Investigators say that Daniel Arthur Redman, fatally shot his 19-year-old brother Brenden Ray Redman on January 14th in the area of East Dawson Drive after he was released from jail just five days prior.
Police responded to the scene around 9:00 p.m. to find Brenden “lying in a driveway with apparent gunshot wounds.” He was airlifted to Marion County for medical treatment, but later died of his injuries.
Authorities deployed K-9 deputies to track down Daniel. They were able to located him “within minutes” at a nearby mobile home.
When authorities found the suspect, he had taken a 42-year-old woman hostage. Officials say the woman had “obvious” injuries after Daniel allegedly struck her.
Eventually Daniel agreed to release the woman and, once she was safe, deputies ordered him to show his hands.
Daniel, however, refused to comply and reached for his waistband. Authorities opened fire on Daniel, shooting him once.
He was then taken to an area hospital for treatment.
According to documents, Daniel was released from jail on January 9th after serving three years for battery and aggravated battery of a person older than 65-years-old.
Officials say the victim was a 68-year-old double amputee. He also reportedly struck his brother Brenden, in an effort to stop him from calling police in the case.
Daniel is now facing a premeditated murder charge for the death of his brother.
