Volusia County, FL– A 19-year-old Florida man is now behind bars after she shot at two teens who used fake money to purchase marijuana from him.
The incident occurred on May 11th around 3 p.m. along Providence Boulevard and East Chapel Drive.
Authorities say they responded to the scene around 3 p.m. after receiving a phone call about gunshots in the area.
When deputies arrived, they found an unoccupied SUV with a flat tire and bullet holes in the passenger side.
Witnesses told them that they saw two young men flee the vehicle after being shot at a short time prior.
Authorities eventually located a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old and determined that they were the ones who were fired upon.
During a police interview, the victims told authorities that they met a guy on Instagram and decided to try and purchase marijuana from him using a fake $100 bill.
The victims then met the suspect at the location and made the exchange, however, as they were driving away they realized they were being shot at.
The victims were unable to give authorities the suspect’s name but gave them a detailed description.
Officials then contacted the Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Services director to provide information on persons of interest in the area.
Using that information and the information from the victims, authorities were able to determine the suspect was 19-year-old Raymon Plummer.
Authorities also reported that Plummer lived just feet away from where the shooting took place.
After showing the victims a photo lineup, they identified Plummer immediately.
He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
Plummer remains at the Volusia County Branch Jail on a $30,000 bond.
