TAMPA, FL– Authorities in Tampa have arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in the parking lot next to a vehicle with a sleeping baby inside.
Tampa Police say they received a call about the discovery on Monday, Jan. 31, in the Easton Park subdivision on Pictorial Park Drive.
Officials arrived to find a woman in her 20s with upper body trauma lying next to a Ford EcoSport SUV.
In the vehicle, they discovered a sleeping infant unharmed.
After an investigation, authorities also discovered that the victim was pregnant at the time of her death.
Homicide investigators arrested 25-year-old Billy Adams III for the woman’s death on Feb. 8.
According to the report, Adams and the victim knew each other.
It was also reported that Adams was acquitted of double murder charges in Hillsborough County just days before killing the mother:
“Mere days after he was acquitted of a separate crime, our homicide suspect did the unthinkable when he killed an innocent woman and her unborn child,” said Interim Chief Bercaw. “I hope this arrest brings some closure to the victim’s family who is mourning the loss of two loved ones,” Tampa Police Interim Chief Lee Bercaw said.
Adams was arrested and faces charges of first-degree murder and the killing of an unborn child by injury to mother.
