TAMPA, FL– A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to over 10 years in federal prison after he reportedly tried to ship himself methamphetamine.
Jason Ryan Hardy was sentenced on Monday for the incident that occurred in June of 2020.
Officials began investigating Hardy after postal workers alerted them about a suspicious package they received.
According to the report, though the package was being shipped from California, the sender’s address and the return address on the package were both based out of Florida.
When authorities searched the package, they found 18 pounds of methamphetamine inside.
Hardy reportedly called the mail facility the following day asking where his package was. Officials got him to confirm his identity and email address and phone number.
They then located and arrested him.
Investigators learned that Hardy flew to California to set up the shipment to Florida where he planned to sell the drugs.
He has been sentenced to 10 years and 10 months for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
