For nearly two weeks, 39-year old Daniel Albert Neja was living in the lap of luxury at Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, according to police He wasn’t just rooming in the luxury suite, he had the run of the place, which is home to the Tampa Bay Rowdies Soccer Team. Police say he helped himself to a luxury suite, the team merchandise and the food court. Police say when they found him he was wearing home team merchandise. Investigators say he somehow made his way into the empty stadium and lived in a luxury suite. Neja, who is from Clearwater, was arrested and charged with burglary and resisting an officer without violence, according to Pinellas County online jail records. He remains in the Pinellas County Jail; bail was set at $5,150. According to an arrest affidavit, Neja set up living space inside the stadium and stole multiple different types of clothing worth $1,043. He also consumed approximately $250 in drinks, police said. “He went into the merchandise store, he went into the food area,” Yolanda Fernandez, a spokesperson for the St. Petersburg Police Department, told reporters. “So he was wearing the merchandise and just helping himself to the food.”

The suspect had recently broken into a Lutz school to “find food” according to police. Neja was discovered in Al Lang Stadium by a cleaning crew. They say they hadn’t checked the luxury suites for a while due to the coronavirus, but discovered things out of place and blankets on the floor tipping them off that someone was living there.
