CUTLER BAY, FL– A man is facing animal abuse charges after he allegedly decapitated a pet snake using his teeth.
The incident was reported at the Saga Bay Gardens apartment complex on SW 210th St.
Authorities say they received a call about a domestic dispute inside of one of the homes around 5:20 a.m.
When officials arrived at the area, they heard a man and woman arguing inside of the home and knocked on the door.
No one answered the door, however, authorities could hear a woman inside scream “kick in the door.”
Once authorities kicked in the door, a man later identified as 32-year-old Kevin Justin Mayorga, ran towards the door to keep it closed.
According to the report, Mayorga was holding the victim “against her will.”
Authorities say Mayora ignored commands and fought with officers as they were trying to take him into custody, even as he was being tased.
At least one officer was hit in the eye with a handcuff.
Once authorities got the chance to speak to the woman, she told them that
bit off the head of her pet ball python.
Officials later found the snake’s head sitting next to the front door.
Mayorga was taken into custody and faces charges of animal cruelty with intent to kill, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest.
He was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $15,000 bond.
