Florida man arrested after shooting at another boater

MONROE COUNTY, FL– A 47-year-old man has been arrested after he reportedly shot at another boater.
The incident was reported near Boyd’s Campground on Stock Island on Sunday.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the area around midnight by the victim who reported that he had been shot at.
The victim told officials that he was on his boat near Mile Marker 5 when he was approached by the suspect who began threatening to kill him.
The suspect reportedly tried to hit the victim and that’s when the victim sprayed him with pepper spray. The suspect then fired three rounds at the victim’s boat before leaving the area.
Officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were able to locate the suspect’s dinghy a short time later and identified him as Julio Andres Suitt.
Suitt admitted to opening fire on the victim’s boat and was taken into custody.
He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into a residential property, and burglary.
