A 37-year-old man has been arrested after police say he brought a loaded handgun to the Key West International Airport.

Andrew Teuton Day was taken into custody around 5 p.m. Monday after the 9mm handgun inside his backpack when he attempted to go through a TSA security checkpoint.

During a police interview with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Day reportedly confessed to not having a concealed carry permit and told authorities he must have forgotten the gun was in his bag.

Day has been arrested and charged of carrying a concealed firearm without a license into an airport.
