MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL– A 34-year-old man was taken into police custody after he repeatedly struck his pregnant girlfriend in the belly with an aluminum stick during an argument.
The incident occurred just after 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the couple’s home in the 2400 block of Northwest 87th Street.
The victim, who is nine months pregnant, told authorities that she was lying down in the bedroom when her boyfriend, Quinton Scott, walked in and they got into an argument.
During the argument, Scott reportedly grabbed her phone and when the woman attempted to get the phone back, Scott  picked up the piece of aluminum and struck the woman five times with it.
Authorities say the woman had minor abrasions on her belly and left hand and was not able to get her phone back.
It is unclear how authorities were eventually contacted.
Officials reported that Scott was extremely combative with the responding officers.
He was arrested and is facing charges of armed robbery and aggravated battery on a pregnant victim with a deadly weapon.
