(TALLAHASSEE, FLA) — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was sworn in for a second four-year term as Florida governor Tuesday. The Republican governor defeated Charlie Crist by a landslide in the November election.
Meanwhile, DeSantis’ second inauguration speech shredded the Biden Administration and “wokeness” in an apparent effort to reach a national audience in anticipation of a 2024 presidential run. DeSantis is widely viewed as a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate.
As he gave an inauguration speech, DeSantis said “freedom lives here in our great Sunshine State of Florida,” one of his major themes.
Florida’s legislative session begins in two months, and DeSantis is promising legislation that will create what he calls family-friendly tax cuts, expand gun rights and make it more difficult for teachers to join unions.
Happy New Year! I am thankful for the opportunity to continue serving the free state of Florida. pic.twitter.com/27bC39heRq
