
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday that his wife Casey has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“As she faces the most difficult test of her life, she will have not only have my unwavering support but the support of our entire family, as well as the prayers and well wishes from Floridians across our state,” Gov. DeSantis said in a statement.
No additional details nor the First Lady’s prognosis were available Monday morning.
Ron and Casey DeSantis were married in September of 2010 and together they have three children ranging in age from 18 months to 4 years old.
Their youngest, Mamie, was the first baby born in the Governor’s Mansion in more than 50 years.
Casey DeSantis has taken up several public initiatives during her time in Tallahassee including programs to help single mothers, people struggling with substance abuse, as well as mental health awareness. She had previously worked as a TV anchor and reporter in Jacksonville.
“Casey is a true fighter, and she will never, never, never give up,” the governor said.
