Hundreds of flights worldwide have been cancelled over this last weekend and more cancellations are to come leading in to Memorial Day.

The Associated Press and Flightaware.com have reported that over 1,030 cancellations occurred by Sunday, 11:30 am EDT.

These increased cancellations are the result of weather conditions, staffing shortages, and increased COVID case rates, according to Delta Airline’s Chief Customer Experience Officer Allison Ausband.

Delta Airlines has canceled about 9% of their operations, more than 250 flights on Sunday, which is the most out of the U.S. based airlines.

Travelers are advised to stay up to date with their flight schedules as cancellations can happen at any time.
