
Florida’s governor is marking the somber anniversary of the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County with a degree that all flags at local and state buildings, installations and grounds fly at half-staff today until sunset.
DeSantis says 17 innocent lives were lost, and students, teachers and faculty showed great courage in the face of danger at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.
DeSantis adds the sacrifices of these heroes, as well as the brave actions of first responders, will never be forgotten.
The shooter has plead guilty to 17 counts of first degree murder and is still awaiting sentencing. The state is seeking the death penalty.
