The Florida Department of Transportation is uninstalling eight I-95 ramp signals in Broward and Palm Beach after one week because they actually made traffic worse.
The flashing signals were installed at Palmetto Park Road, Atlantic Boulevard and Cypress Creek Road to alleviate congestion entering Interstate 95 on Jan. 31.
But the FDOT turned off half of the ramp signals within one week after they caused traffic backups that blocked the intersections. Also, some drivers would speed around other stopped cars.

“We’re going to be more careful with those signals,” Freeway operations specialist Marielys Gensler told WPTV. “Those are not going to be on for some time until we figure that out.”
