(Tampa, FL)–Federal officials have identified a woman’s body that was found wrapped in bedding and a trash bag floating in a waterway.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Heather Rose Strickland.
Officials say a group of fishermen near the shores of Egmont Key, discovered the body on Dec. 10th just before noon.
The group originally thought they’d found trash floating in the waterway but after cutting open the bag, they soon realized it contained a body.
Strickland was last seen alive leaving the HCA Florida Largo Hospital on Dec. 05.
Her parents told reporters that she struggled with her mental health and drug abuse but was a kind person.
They reported that they were trying to get her back to North Florida to insure she got the treatment she needed.
Strickland is the mother of five children but all have been placed for adoption.
Authorities are asking anyone who has any information about this incident to contact the FBI’s Tampa Field Office at 1-813-253-1000 or submit a tip to tips.fbi.gov.
