(PALM BEACH, FL)- Federal agents executed a search warrant on former president Donald Trump’s Palm Beach home on Monday.
The raid was conducted early Monday morning, reportedly related to an ongoing investigation into Trump retaining classified materials at his home after his term in office ended.
Trump was in New York at the time and said in a statement on social media that his home was “under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents.”
He also says agents also broke into a safe but did not comment on why the raid was being conducted.
“This unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” the former president said. “Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before.”
As of 8:00 PM Monday, the FBI has reportedly left Mar-a-Lago.
