FAU grad, Brittany Bowe, honored as USA flag bearer at Winter Olympics

Team USA is naming the athletes who will serve as flag bearers during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics and one of them graduated from FAU!
Former Florida Atlantic basketball player Brittany Bowe, a 33-year-old speedskater from Ocala, was named one of the flag bearers, along with curler John Shuster.
Bowe will have the honor of carrying our flag when the Parade of Nations opens the Games in Beijing on Friday.

Bowe’s selection comes after bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor tested positive for COVID-19. Taylor called Bowe to tell her she would be taking her place in the ceremony.
Bowe gave up her own spot on the Olympic speedskating team so that her childhood friend, top-ranked skater Erin Jackson, could go in her place. Jackson took a tumble during the trials.
Bowe holds the world record in the 1000.
