BOYNTON BEACH, FL– A 29-year-old man has been arrested after he shot the mother of his child right in front of the child.
The incident occurred on April 23 at around 10:11 p.m., at Southern Cross Circle in Boynton Beach.
Officials say they arrived to the area and found several shell casings in front of the apartment complex.
Authorities eventually made contact with the victim, who told them that she had been shot by the father of her child but refused to provide any other details because she feared for her life.
While authorities could not speak to the mother, they were able to speak to the victim’s 5-year-old son.
The son told police that he was in the vehicle with his father when his father and his mother became engaged in a verbal confrontation on the phone.
The father then drove to the mother’s residence where the argument continued.
The child told authorities that he saw his father get out of the vehicle with a gun in his hands and began shooting his mother.
The child says the mother ran back into the apartment and the child got out of the vehicle and followed his mother inside.
Authorities were able to identify the shooter as Daral Montgomery through a criminal history check. Authorities reported that Montgomery is an eight-time convicted felon and listed gang member.
He has been charged with attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of felon in possession of a firearm (gang related).
