PALM BEACH, FL– A 57-year-old man is being treated for life-threatening injuries at a local hospital after he attempted to harm his family by causing a car accident before running into traffic.
The incident occurred around 9:16 a.m. Monday on Florida’s Turnpike.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that the family was traveling in their 2016 red Nissan Murano when the father suddenly grabbed the steering wheel from his wife and attempted to cause an accident.
When the vehicle came to a rest, the father then jumped out of the vehicle and ran into oncoming traffic.
He was struck by a tractor-trailer and taken to Saint Mary’s Trauma Center.
The wife and their two daughters, ages 23 and 15, were also said to have had minor injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
