Officials in Lancaster, California have arrested a father of after he allegedly decapitated both of his children.

The incident was reported on Friday morning.

Detectives say they were called to the home to investigate a possible gas leak when they found the bodies of a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl inside separate bedrooms of the home.

Both children appeared to have been decapitated and stabbed several times.

Authorities reported that they are unsure at this time, how long the children have been dead.

Two other children and the victim’s parents were also in the home during the discovery.

The children’s father Maurice Taylor Sr. was questioned and later arrested on murder charges. He is being held on a $2 million bail.

Officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
