A father and his son have been sentenced to life in prison after investigators found that the duo killed the son’s ex- wife and hid her body from police.
According to the report, Nicole Montalvo the ex-wife of Christopher Otero-Rivera and mother of their 8-year-old son, was reported missing on October 21st after dropping their son off to Rivera’s father’s home.
Investigators found a text on Montalvo’s phone asking Angel and his wife to take care of her son for a few days, however, authorities believed that text was not sent by Montalvo because she had not told anyone else that she was going anywhere.
Her body was later found burned, cut up, and buried on two of the Rivera’s properties.
Officials say the men killed Montalvo because they wanted sole custody of the child. The pair even hatched a plan to plant drugs on Montalvo in 2018 to make her lose custody of the boy before deciding to kill her.
In court, both the father and the son blamed each other for Montalvo’s murder.
Christopher Otero-Rivera and his father, Angel Luis Rivera were found guilty of second-degree murder, abuse of a body and evidence tampering in April and both received life sentences earlier this week.
