Fatal tractor-trailer crash closes I-95 south for hours

DELRAY BEACH- A deadly early morning crash closed southbound I-95 near Linton Boulevard on Tuesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol say an SUV being driven by a 35 year old man from Lake Worth Beach was completely stopped in a right-hand lane when a tractor trailer collided with him at around 5:15 AM

The SUV burst into flames and the driver died at the scene.

The 49 year old truck driver sustained minor injuries.

FHP closed down the highway just as rush hour was starting, leaving some drivers stranded for hours until the road reopened.

Traffic was being forced off of I-95 at Hypoluxo Road and the interstate remained closed until after 2:00 PM.

The names of the victims have not been released and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
