Family seeks justice for Cyclist who lost his arm in hit-and-run accident in Tamarac

According to Broward Sherriff’s Office, Winston Copeland, 67, was on his bike last Friday morning when he was struck by a car in the 5700 block of West Commercial Boulevard.

The family wants justice for Copeland, a Christian man that enjoyed biking to work, he suffered severe injuries from the accident.

The driver fled the scene in what authorities believe was a 2013 to 2019 silver Nissan Pathfinder.

“He’s a human being, he was left on the side of the street and that’s not ok,” daughter Fulaine Smith said.

Copeland survived the accident but had to have his arm amputated Thursday.

His family wants the driver to come forward and turn himself into the authorities.
