Authorities in Pembroke Pines are currently investigating the death of a teen who was accidentally shot by a family member.
The incident occurred at a home in the Coconut Reef community on Saturday.
While many details are not known at this time, reports indicated that a female family member was handling a gun when it went off and shot the teen.
“The firearm was discharged unintentionally due to negligence and mishandling,” authorities said in a statement.
The teen was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said any potential charges will be filed by the State Attorney’s Office.
