Family faces backlash after transforming dog into ‘The Grinch’

A schnauzer’s family is facing backlash after a viral TikTok shows their completely transformed dog ‘Rizzo’ head-to-toe in green fur and a festive sweater to resemble the iconic Christmas meanie, ‘The Grinch.”
The video, captioned “When your groomer slays making your dog into the Grinch,” quickly acquired over 1.3 million views and 111.5K shares on the popular platform, but viewers were quick to judge the colorful stunt.
“Kinda looks like animal abuse to me, I don’t know,” one user commented.”People be like dying my hair is ok but dying my doggos is not lol.”

“People on here saying it’s awful…same parents letting their middle schoolers put about 14 different colors in their hair,” another said, defending the pup’s owners. “I love it!!!”

Ashley Spielmann, 37, said she was eccentric over her dog’s ‘do’, telling TikTok users the green dye used on Rizzo is “completely safe.”

“I was so excited when I saw him coming out of the groomer’s,” Spielmann told SWNS. “She sent pictures during the process and after when he was all blow-dried — and I loved it immediately, which I knew I would.”

Although certain dog dyes can be relatively non-toxic, they can still potentially contain harmful produce like peroxide, ammonia, and para-phenylenediamine, according to WashPaw.
