
Lighthouse ArtCenter presents “Elegant Threads” and “Little LUSH”

LIGHTHOUSE ARTCENTER PRESENTS ELEGANT THREADS, A FIBER ARTS EXHIBITION AND LITTLE LUSH, A SMALL WORKS FUNCTIONAL CERAMICS SHOW OPENING SEPTEMBER 7
The juried exhibitions are a result of a nationwide call to artists and include Awards Receptions and a Runway Show
September 7 – December 2, 2023 – Lighthouse ArtCenter launches its 2023-24 exhibition schedule with “Elegant Threads” and “Little LUSH,” offering a unique blend of fiber art, sculptures, and ceramics. “Elegant Threads” celebrates wearable and non-wearable fiber arts with a stunning array of masterful creations by talented artists. Also showcased are fiber art masterpieces from internationally renowned artists such as Bisa Butler and Lezley Saar (on loan from the private collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody) and sculptures from renowned artist Muriel Kaplan. “Little LUSH” is a captivating ceramics exhibition featuring a juried selection of functional small works. Admission to the gallery at 373 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, FL 33469, is free for members and a $5 suggested donation for nonmembers.
“We are excited to bring these extraordinary exhibitions to the community, offering an enriching experience that celebrates the creativity and talent of artists in fiber arts and ceramics,” said Jeni Licata, Executive Director of Lighthouse ArtCenter. “Both exhibitions resulted from a nationwide call for artists, attracting a diverse and talented pool of creators. “Elegant Threads” celebrates wearable and non-wearable fiber arts, bringing together a stunning array of masterful creations by talented artists who will compete for awards. The community is invited to attend an Awards Reception in the gallery with light bites and refreshments on October 19, 2023, 5 – 7 pm.
Also showcased are masterpieces from internationally renowned artists such as Bisa Butler and Lezley Saar (on loan from the private collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody) and sculptures from renowned artist Muriel Kaplan. Kaplan, featured in the 2023 Fall Art & Culture magazine issue, will also show two sculptures created by the prominent Palm Beach artist and reimagined by Lighthouse ArtCenter’s Curator, Janeen Mason.
Elegant Threads will culminate in a spectacular Runway Show on Thursday, November 16, 5 – 7 pm, with inspirational garments and wearable art presented in a visually immersive experience. Tickets to the runway show can be purchased online starting September 7 at lighthousearts.org/elegant-threads/ for $100 per person.
In contrast, “Little LUSH” is a captivating ceramics exhibition featuring a juried selection of functional small works. Ceramicists around the nation responded to a call to artists and have masterfully created a diverse range of useful contemporary art objects. From delicate teacups and bowls to intricate vases and sculptures, these small-scale ceramics embody the perfect blend of artistic expression and practicality. The community is invited to attend an Awards Reception in the gallery with light bites and refreshments on September 21, 2023, 5 – 7 pm.
