Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the DJ on the late “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant, has died. He was 40.
Allison Holker, Boss’s wife, ran into an LAPD station Tuesday after Boss abruptly fled home without his car, according to TMZ.
Paramedics were called to an L.A. hotel at around 11:15 a.m. and discovered Stephen dead by apparent suicide with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” Holker wrote in a statement. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

Boss began DJing for Ellen in 2014. He would continue to collaborate as an executive producer in 2020, and was with Ellen until the show’s finale in May 2022.
“I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory,” continued Holker, who just celebrated her 9-year anniversary with Boss last Saturday. “We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”
“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
