INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL– An 80-year-old woman is facing assault charges after she allegedly attacked a disabled person and their service dog while at a Publix.
The Indian River Sheriff’s Department says the woman, Virginia Ann Wargo Pitzner, noticed the service dog while shopping and confronted the disabled victim about their service dog being in the store.
Pitzner told the victim that the dog was not allowed in the store and the argument began. The handler reportedly told Pitzner that the dog was a service dog and even produced legal documentation.
As Pitzner continued to yell at the victim, things escalated.
Pitzner claims the dog jumped on her so she “kick the dog handler’s butt.” She told deputies, “I kicked…a**.”
Pitzner was taken into custody on a charge of battery on a person over 65 and disorderly conduct.
While being transported to the jail, deputies said, Pitzer said “I hope…rots in h***” and the “dog will be run over.”
