A 74-year-old woman in North Port, Florida died after she accidentally fell into a septic tank.
The victim’s body was discovered by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department last week during a wellness check.
Authorities say the woman’s daughter contacted them on May 10th, a day after the victim was last seen alive.
When investigators arrived at the home, they noticed that the woman’s water hose was still running.
They then found her body in the septic tank.
Officials believe the woman was watering the grass when she fell through the top of the septic tank.
While the woman’s body was found inside of the tank, authorities say they do not believe she drowned.
“They’re doing some additional testing, to see if maybe she had a heart attack or something along those lines, just based on the shock of falling in,” North Port Public Information Officer Josh Taylor said.
No foul play is suspected.
