Miami, Broward and surrounding areas are still drying out after being soaked by the first named storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.

Prior to being named, Tropical Storm Alex dropped up 8-to-11 inches of rain on South Florida.
In some areas cars were submerged in waist-deep flood waters.

Tropical Storm Alex, with 65-mph sustained winds, is now the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami is reporting Alex reached tropical storm force early Sunday and is now moving east-northeast toward Bermuda.

Northern Florida is likely to continue getting remnants of Alex throughout most of the day Monday.

Alex is not expected to strengthen to hurricane status.
