(Martin County, Florida)– After 5 months of searching, authorities have found the person responsible for a hit-and-run incident on S. Kanner Highway, just south of Salerno Road.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook asking the public for assistance in identifying the driver of a Ford Expedition, on September 9th, and the public responded.

Deputies have said, after receiving tips from the post by the sheriff’s office, that the SUV and driver were identified.

The offender was later found and gave a confession which, deputies say, will lead to an arrest warrant.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, hit-and-run incidents in the county are on the rise, and over 150 such cases have occurred in the county.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office advises anyone who witnesses or is involved in a hit-and-run crash, to call 911.

Providing a description of the vehicles involved and the direction they traveled would also be very helpful in preventing further incidents.
