(WEST PALM BEACH, FL)– Dispatchers with the West Palm Beach Police office were able to prevent a railroad crash after the driver of a Lexus accidentally drove on the tracks and became stuck.
The incident occurred Tuesday on the CSX railroad tracks just south of Okeechobee Boulevard and Tamarind Avenue.
Authorities say a woman was driving in zero visibility rainfall around 9:00 p.m. when she accidentally drove onto the tracks.
Police communications operators were able to alert CSX that there was a car stuck on the tracks and to avert any incoming trains.
According to the report, a northbound Tri-Rail train was only a few minutes away from the car but was able to stop in time due to the notice.
No injuries were reported.
