Dr. Alonso: You must wear a mask in all Palm Beach County buildings

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County Director, Alina Alonso, M.D. announced this morning that the executive order recently signed by Governor Ron DeSantis lifting the local COVID emergency order usurps the countywide mandate. So while you don’t have to wear a mask in public spaces, you do you still have to wear one inside all Palm Beach County buildings and facilities. Businesses must also set their own mask guidelines.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the executive order suspending all local coronavirus mandates immediately. The governor said people should not be burdened with regulations once they’re vaccinated…it suggests the vaccines don’t work.

Also, students and staff at Palm Beach County schools will still have to wear masks while on campus despite the lifting of the emergency order. DeSantis also signed an executive order banning vaccine passports which takes effect July 1st.

At least three states are ending their COVID emergency orders. Florida took action yesterday, despite having third highest number of cases in the nation behind California and Texas. Oklahoma ends its order today and Alabama will do the same tomorrow.
