(MIAMI GARDENS, FLA) — The Miami Dolphins are 3-0 and sit atop the AFC East after the clock ran out on the Buffalo Bills’ effort to kick a winning field goal.
The win snaps a seven-game losing streak to the Bills and last week’s AFC offensive player came up big again.
Tua Tagovailoa, still recovering from getting his bell rung in the first half, dialed up launch codes to former Bama receiver Jaylen Waddle who caught bomb after bomb. #1 led the Dolphins’ offense point-for-point against Josh Allen who is touted as the best QB in the league. The Dolphin defense sacked Allen multiple times forcing a key turnover.
It was all Waddle on the final touchdown drive making two deep receptions that set up the eventual game-winning score.
As Buffalo players collapsed on the field and rolled around on the sideline with cramps, the Dolphin defense remained fresh as a daisy despite spending most of the afternoon on the field.
While Miami’s offense was good enough to win, the defense was off the chain with a goal-line stand in the final two minutes.
Unfortunately Miami could not get out of their own end zone and punted the ball back to the Bills…sort of. The first punt ricocheted off the but of a Dolphin defender for a safety.
With more room, the second punt put the Bills in a position to win. The Dolphins held the Bills again allowing them only enough room to get close to field goal range but an open field tackle with less than 10 seconds to go saved the game as the Bills couldn’t get to the line of scrimmage and the clock ticked to zeroes.
The win puts Miami at 3-0 with a favorable schedule the next several weeks.
