A dog was shot dead by a neighbor after it reportedly attacked it’s owner.

According to police, the owner was with the dog in the backyard of a home along Northwest 11th Place and 47th Avenue Monday afternoon.

The dog, at some point then attacked the woman, biting her on her hand. A neighbor heard the commotion in the backyard and ran over to help.

After seeing the incident, the neighbor fatally shot the dog.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with severe injuries to her hand.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
