The patriotic bunting is ready, the golden carriage on standby, the boats freshly painted, the shops filled with royals souvenirs. The normal ebb and flow of British life gives way in the next four days to a series of street parties, flotillas, outdoor concerts and finally the appearance of an elderly great-grandmother on her balcony to wave to her subjects. The pageantry is very grand and very British. But at the heart of the Diamond Jubilee celebration is a nearly universal sense of appreciation for the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, who is marking 60 years on the throne. Buckingham Palace says the Queen is under ‘medical supervision’ with doctors ‘concerned for Her Majesty’s health.’

“Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”

She’s currently at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The Queen’s ‘immediate family members’ have been informed of the latest developments.  Just yesterday, she pulled-out of a ‘virtual private meeting with senior advisors’ after doctors ordered her to rest.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Place has released a statement saying, “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.” The statement added, “the Queen remains comfortable.”

The monarch has spent seven decades on the throne and lost her husband Prince Philip in 2021.

The heir to the British throne Prince Charles and wife Camilla are on their way to Balmoral Castle this morning where the Queen is under medical supervision.

She met this week with the outgoing prime minister Boris Johnson and the incoming prime minister Liz Truss.

Truss tweeted a short time ago that “the whole country will be concerned with the news from Buckingham Palace”.

Updates are expected soon.
