A detention deputy with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is accused of shoving an inmate.
24-year-ol Darrius Dionne Randolph has been arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery and official misconduct, a felony.
Investigators said the arrest stemmed from an altercation with an inmate over razor blades.
Randolph, according to investigators, asked the other inmates to leave the cell and allegedly shoved the the victim into a wall.
The unidentified inmate fell to the floor and suffered a cut on his nose.
The inmate filed an internal complaint.
Deputy Randolph has been with the sheriff’s office since March 2020. He has no prior disciplinary action.
Randolph is on unpaid leave.
