(FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida)– The Broward Sheriff’s Office has released new details in the case of a shooting that took place on I-95 Sunday night.
Deputies released a composite sketch of the shooter, who fired their weapon while driving on the interstate, wounding one man, one woman, and one child.
Miranda Grossman, a spokesperson for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, said a white i8 BMW sideswiped the victim’s Nissan Sentra along the southbound lanes between Sunrise and Broward boulevards, which began a verbal argument between the two drivers.
“Which unfortunately then escalated to violence,” Grossman said, “The driver of the BMW shot at the two people in the Nissan Sentra.”
Grossman said the man and the woman in the Nissan were hit and wounded by the gunfire and another round found its way into a separate vehicle, striking a young girl.
All three victims were rushed to the hospital. The man and the young girl received non-life-threatening injuries, but a woman has died from her wounds.
Ani Estevez, a student at FAU, she worked at a Broward County preschool. Her boyfriend was also shot but is expected to survive. No arrest has been announced, and the sheriff’s office says they are looking for a newer model white BMW i8.
Anyone with information on this shooting or the whereabouts of the driver of the BMW, call Fort Lauderdale Police or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
