DeSantis: Wealthy donors received vaccines through West Palm Beach nursing home

An care center, MorseLife Health System, in West Palm Beach is now in the crosshairs of the Department of Health and Florida’s inspector general for allegedly offering COVID-19 vaccine to members of Palm Beach Country Club and wealthy donors, Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Wednesday.

According to an article in the Washington Post wealthy Floridians received invitations to receive the coronavirus vaccine both in writing and by telephone.

The vaccines the West Palm Beach facility received were exclusively to be administered to residents and staff but benefactors allegedly contacted to receive a jab.

“For benefactors to sign consent forms as if they lived or worked at a facility is wrong,” DeSantis said.

“To go under that rubric when you’re not a resident and not a staff member, that’s definitely going outside what the guidance is and what the program is for,” DeSantis said at a news conference in Vero Beach.

Those connected with New York developers Bill and David Mack were able to go to the health clinic at MorseLife to get their shots. The Macks are big donors to MorseLife and are on the board of directors for the country club, according to reports.
