DeSantis wants Florida students to learn “civics not critical race theory”

Governor DeSantis wants to make Florida a national leader in civics education and espouses the removal what he calls politicized academic fads from public education.
State lawmakers are being asked to approve a $106 million initiative to improve civics education in Florida but DeSantis wants no part of…Critical Race Theory or CRT.

DeSantis wants schools to treat people as individuals based on their character, not race. According to DeSantis, “Teaching kids to hate their country or to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.”

The governor also wants seniors to pass a civics test in order to graduate.
Teachers who take the proper civics courses to earn a seal of excellence could get a three thousand dollar bonus.
