Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed another piece of school related legislation into law today, putting his signature on the ‘Parental Rights In Education’ bill which critics have referred to as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill.

Saying that it will help Florida school children “get an education, not an indoctrination” the new law forbids public schools from teaching about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3 and requires that any such teaching in more advanced grades be ‘age appropriate.’

The new law follows a slew of school-related legislation signed by DeSantis of late including raises for teachers, parental oversight of teaching materials, term limits for school board members and the banning of so-called ‘Critical Race Theory’ from the classroom.

The signing took place at Classical Preparatory School in Spring Hill, Florida and the new law goes into effect on July 1.
