Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law Thursday morning that bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
Every life is valuable. In Florida, we will stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Thank you @GovRonDeSantis for signing HB 5 into law today, which saves the precious lives of Florida’s unborn and born babies. @ChrisSprowls @ErinGrall @jenna_persons pic.twitter.com/GbeCtC7zVE

Flanked by supporters at the Nación De Fe church in Kissimmee he said “We are here today to defend those that can’t defend themselves.”
The law includes exceptions if a mother’s life is in danger.
The new law takes effect July 1st and comes on the heels of a Tallahassee judge upholding a mandatory 24 hour waiting period before women can obtain abortion services.
Florida joins numerous other states that have abortion restrictions, including a new law in Kentucky that was passed with a legislative override of Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto.
The Kentucky law effectively blocks abortion access in the state.
