FORT COLLINS, CO.–
A 24-year-old deputy has died after she was fatally struck by an undocumented drunk driver.
The incident occurred Sunday night near Greeley as Deputy Alexis Hein-Nutz was riding her motorcycle to work.
Authorities say the suspect was driving drunk when he struck the Weld County Sheriff’s Deputy and fled the scene.
After a 24-hour manhunt, authorities identified the suspect as 35-year-old Norberto Garcia-Gonzalez and brought him into custody after finding him hiding in a cornfield.
Officials say Garcia-Gonzalez is an undocumented immigrant and had a fake Green Card and Social Security Card in his vehicle.
He is now facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and careless driving resulting in death.
