According reports Palm Beach County’s COVID-19 vaccination hotline is currently out of order due to the overwhelming demand for the vaccine.
Palm Beach County officials announced Tuesday that residents in the area who are 65-years- old and older can call to schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine. By midday Tuesday, however, the hotline was no longer working.
Department of Health Spokesman Alex Shaw, says the hotline went down due to the overwhelming number of calls they began to receive at one time.
“Our appointment line can only take 150 calls at a time and is currently overwhelmed,” Shaw said.
Officials say they are encouraged by the demand for the vaccine and that they are now working to create an infrastructure that will be able to handle the high demand.
While that is in the works, the DOH in Palm Beach County says they are also working to fulfill all current appointments frontline healthcare workers.
If you are planning to get the vaccine, you are encouraged to speak with your primary care provider before doing so. For any additional questions about the vaccine you can call 1-866-779-6121 or email COVID-19@flhealth.gov.
