A Palm Beach County cop has been arrested for stealing from her department.

25 year old Delray Beach police officer Jacaria Stringer surrendered to the Palm Beach County Jail on Tuesday after an investigation revealed she falsified time sheets and was paid more than $6,500 in unearned wages.

She bonded out at around 3:00 PM yesterday.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was brought in last year by Delray Beach PD to look into the accuracy of timesheets submitted by Stringer in which she claimed to be on military leave.

For 21 days between March 2020 and August 2021, Stringer said she was undergoing training as part of her U.S. Army Reserve obligation however investigators determined that no training took place on the dates she was absent from her job with Delray PD.

At least 21 time sheets were falsified according to FDLE.

Stringer, a resident of Riviera Beach, is charged with official misconduct and grand theft.

The misconduct charge carries a sentence of as long as 5 years in prison while the grand theft charge is a first degree felony and carries a minimum sentence of 21 months.

Her case will be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
